ARTIST STATEMENT
My intent has been to capture the aspects of my experiences as a woman. Greatly inspired by my mother’s stories, the matriarchs of my family, my friends, myself and other women. I explore my emotions and thoughts about loss, discovering body autonomy, the stages of abusive relationships and how we persevere through the cycles of these obstacles. When I create I am vulnerable and put my armor down, I can be angry, sad, messy, conceited and all the things that are not socially acceptable for a woman to be. I often use very saturated colors with dark imagery like a cumbia song, where the music is upbeat and you can’t help but to dance and move, the more you listen the darkness of the lyrics settle in.

VOCAL PROCESS
I have been singing and organizing performances since I was 4-years-old, my mom would come home late from work and I would have a multi-song performance ready for her. I am inspired by opera and heavy metal vocalists, I gravitate towards music I can belt in and music that inspires me to explore the range of emotional expression. I often select music I deeply relate to, I feel the most powerful when I sing lyrics and sounds that reflect where I’m at in life.
